History

March 16, 1874 – The Pedagogical courses for Teachers’ Professional training of the colleges of Kyiv educational region were created. The University’s history began. 1919 – Borys Grinchenko Pedagogical Institute started its activity in Kyiv and soon was reorganized into Kyiv Pedagogical Courses named after Borys Grinchenko. December 17, 1993 – Kyiv Interregional Institute for Teachers’ Professional Training was named in the honour of Borys Grinchenko. September 1, 2007 – Institute of Post-Graduate Pedagogical Education was created on the basis of the department of post-graduate pedagogical education. September, 2008 – The Concept of Development of the University for 2008-2012 was worked out and approved by the University Academic Board. October 8, 2009 – Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Municipal Pedagogical University was renamed into Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University by the decision of Kyiv Council.
