About university

The first International Information Technologies University in Kazakhstan, initiated by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, offers training programs in IT Management, Computer Science, Software Engineering and Information Systems. These majors are enhanced by supplementary courses on management, economics, finance, communication, organizational behavior and business ethics.

As an innovative higher educational institution, IITU is called upon to meet the national industry needs in top-quality IT experts and thus to promote Kazakhstan’s successful integration into the global economic community.

IITU’s competitive advantage on the market of educational services is its partnership with Carnegie Mellon University, one of the global leaders in the field. Its IITU-affiliated iCarnegie business-school offers 10 educational modules in the software engineering.

History

International University of Information Technologies was established in April 2009 on behalf of the President of RK (Resolution № 881 of the Government of RK dated 24 September, 2008.) for promoting the industrial-innovative development of Kazakhstan.

“Within the FEZ framework  favorable conditions are being created for productive development of higher educational institutions, including the International Information Technologies University, vocational educational institutions, research institutes” (Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated August 18, 2003 № 1166 “On Establishment of Information Technologies Park as a Special Economic Zone”.

Kazakhstan’s first IT University is a Central-Asian leader in training highly skilled, internationally recognized IT experts for the region.

International University of Information Technologies was created in close cooperation with iCarnegie – an affiliate of the Carnegie Mellon University (USA), highly reputed world-wide for its top-quality educational programs.

Сarnegie Mellon University is a recognized global leader in such areas of education as algorithms, computer networks, distributed computing, programming languages, robotics, computational linguistics, software engineering.

Research

“Development of recognition and analysis of moving objects with the formation of the archive scenarios” for 2013-2015.

“The development of the model (the program) to provide anti-aging active longevity of the elderly in Kazakhstan” for 2011-2013.

The development of logical calculi that describe the behavior of information systems” for 2009-2011.

“Research and development of logical modeling the behavior of complex systems” for 2012-2014.

“The development and justification of approximate methods for solving the inverse problem in the process of propagation of water in a multi-region” for 2012-2014.

International programs

A delegation of 35 students from the International IT University (IITU) of Almaty, Kazakhstan arrived on Sunday, 30th May at UNITEN under the ticket of the Students Exchange Program between UNITEN and IITU. The students were accompanied by two IITU Directors, Mr. Iskander Aliyev, the Chairperson of Zerde Holdings and Shareholder of IITU and Mrs. Zhanar Mambeyeva, the Vice Pro-Rector of IITU together with 4 lecturers.

This Students Exchange Program is the outcome of the visit by Prof Damir Shynybekov, Rector of IITU to UNITEN and the return visit by AP Dr Siti Salbiah Mohamed Shariff and Prof Ir Dr Kamal Nasharuddin Mustapha to IITU recently where a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on the 2nd March 2010.

Both UNITEN and IITU have identified areas of collaboration and co-operation relating to student exchange, academic program development, postgraduate studies, joint research & teaching and academic quality assurance. This program, which materialised within three months of signing the MOU, shows the committment of both parties to work together in areas of common interest.
